FIRST MATCH

Benton vs Montoursville Junior High Wrestling Last Match of 2017

Caleb Schans's last match of the season was with Benton Junior High Wrestlers today at the Montoursville Area Senior High School.  It was a magnificent match against an opponent he'd wrestled and pinned in the past.

His opponent had picked up a new trick since the last time Caleb competed with him- pinching. Ouch! Caleb brought home some bright red pinch marks around his collar bones. Gladly this distraction, (dirty play) did not distract him from the goal of the match. Caleb dominated and won his 19th Junior High Wrestling match with his classic Half Nelson.

As I sat close to the mats to record the game from the bench, I noticed Caleb got close to pinning his opponent during every round but ran out of time to actually pin. Caleb said when he heard me in the last round shout, "40 Seconds!" and "30 Seconds!" that it helped him to hurry and get the job done!

I felt like a hero! It was awesome to have a small part in his awesome win! Congratulations Caleb! You make us proud!

Josiah Montoursville Elementary Wrestling

Josiah Montoursville Elementary wrestling 🤼 Williamsport and South Williamsport

 @ S. Williamsport High School

Josiah Schans weighed in at 81 pounds and had 3 matches January 29, 2017.

Josiah won his first match against a very difficult competitor.

They went into overtime.

With the flip of the coin, it was determined if Williamsport could break Josiah's hold he would win. Josiah had to keep him down for another 30 seconds. It was a grueling match. When his opponent nearly broke his hold, Josiah still had the strength to throw him to the ground and win the match!

Match 2 he lost

Match 3 was a forfeit = win.

Enjoy watching his two matches below:

Josiah with Montoursville Warriors Elementary wrestlers vs. Williamsport

Today Josiah Schans had two TOUGH matches at Williamsport Highschool. He won his first match with points, his second match was against an elementary state wrestling champion.

Josiah was disappointed to be pinned but his coach encouraged him saying, "I'm really proud of you Josiah, you nearly pinned that state champion wrestler!"

That word of encouragement dispelled his disappointment and fueled his inspiration for the next match.

Enjoy watching the entire two matches here. (The two matches are followed by earlier matches in this video playlist)

Caleb Schans Wrestling Heavyweight @ Loyalsock Junior High Wrestling Match

Caleb Schans makes another pin at the Loyalsock Junior High Wrestling Match against their heavyweight wrestler. He was hoping to try out some new tactics but was coached during the match to stick with his stand by half nelson. Way to dominate Caleb Schans! Nice work!

Josiah's first meet for the 2017 Montoursville Warrior's Elementary Wrestling Team.

Josiah Schans, Graduating Class of 2023 enjoyed his first match of the 2017 Elementary Wrestling meet @ Montgomery with Montgomery and South Williamsport elementary wrestling teams.  He won 2/3 matches, despite the rapid succession of matches played back to back after all rounds were wrestled to the full rounds time limits.  He felt very good about his matches and enjoyed talking about them for the interview in the video footage below. Enjoy! Congratulations Josiah!

Caleb Pins 3/3 matches at Mifflinburg Tournament!

We had a BLAST today at the Mifflinburg Tournament!

Caleb Schans pinned 3 out of three opponents at today's Mifflinburg Dual Team Tournament, including the reigning 4th place winner from this year's Milton tournament at today's Mifflinburg tournament.

Weighing in today at 214lbs, Caleb wrestled multiple rounds within the three matches, including a challenging opponent from Line Mountian weighing 250.04 lbs. It was an exciting day for the team as the championship was lost in the very last round to Line Mountian. This was the Montoursville Warriors Junior High Wrestlers first loss in 36 wrestling meets.

Caleb's coach Vic said Caleb's strengths are in his wholehearted simple techniques and his weakness is in trying to combine moves, doing more than one move only half way.

Enjoy watching Caleb's 3 pins of the day below:

Caleb Schans Wins 3 out of 5 Matches in the Selinsgrove Tournament for the Montoursville Junior High Warriors.

Caleb Schans graduating in 2020 wrestled at the Selinsgrove Tournament on the Junior High team. He was expected to wrestle in the 210lb weight class, but couldn't manage to shed the last 9oz to qualify.

He ended up wrestling boys 50lbs more than his weight and won 3 of his 4 matches. Complete videos of the matches are posted below.

Seeing the size of his next opponent in the second match Caleb didn't appear to have a hope for victory. His friends tried to comfort him saying, "Just don't get pinned, Caleb." He looked scared and discouraged UNTIL it was his turn to wrestle. Somehow the fear and discouragement fell off him as he warmed up and stepped onto the mat. He looked like a warrior ready to win.  His inner dominator rallied him into a zealous fervor winning him the impossible match!

Caleb's college dream is to graduate debt free with a degree that will empower him to be a marine wildlife biologist and get paid to go fishing.

We wish you all the best fish the world has to offer Caleb Schans! Great job wrestling some whoppers today at the Selinsgrove Tournament with the Montoursville Warrior Junior High Wrestling team!
